Human societies are linked with male parental investment. The aim of the female is to secure 2 things – The best possible genes she can get & commitment of the male. This stems from the desire to steer the resources of the male towards her offspring. This gives rise to intra-species conflict wherein they are competing against other females to secure the resources & commitment of the said man. In species requiring low male parental investment, competition is often non-existent because even if all the females desire the genes of only one man, they get it. Copulation isn’t very time consuming act for males. Furthermore, the male sexual strategy is quite opposite of the female. While a female desires to secure commitment. The male’s aim is to spread his genes as far and as wide as possible, thus human males often develop a greater capability of lying while females develop a greater mechanism of catching deceit. Human males will engage in sex with other female if doesn’t take the too much of resources & time away from other offspring, purely on a physical basis with no emotional connection to the said female.
It is worth noting that, males gatekeep commitment while females gatekeep sex. Quite similarly cheating for male and female is entirely different. Females want to make sure they have commitment of the said men, so they must guarantee a emotional connection from him. While, males desire to be confirmed that the offspring said female will bear is his, that is he isn’t rearing someone else’s genetic material. As such males punish cheating more harshly than females.
These two goals of females – genes and commitment can often contradict. Rarely they find a man who possess both of the qualities they desire. If only cads reproduce frequently more cad offspring would be spread and there won’t be any victims to exploit. Nature has a way balancing the disturbance is called evolutionary equilibrium. Monogamy & Human Nature In low-income distributed society if monogamy is the norm, then it is ecologically imposed. In high-income distributed society if monogamy is the norm, then it is socially imposed.You may ask why is it socially imposed? In high-level societies where it would be in women’s favor (better quality of living for themselves & offspring) to be with highly resourceful man even if it means sharing him with other women. It is also in favor of the high-status males, given that they get the privilege of engaging in desired male sexual strategy, that is to spread their genes as far and wide as possible.
But here’s the dilemma, if women are allowed to openly choose a male that can provide well for their offspring, most women would choose a singular man (top 10%) as such low-status males become invisible to women. Additionally, the said women and her children only get fraction of time & resources of the father since he is open to multiple partners. Women need to be educated in making a better rational choice (social imposement & parental influence).In low-level societies this problem is countered by ecological imposement of monogamy, where nobody is too high-status except select few males (top 1%) so women deem it better to be a wife to man who will commit to her entirely & entirety of his resources, rather than someone who they’ll have to compete with other women even after securing commitment In high-level societies, this is countered by social imposement of monogamy. It should be noted that it is not forced monogamy but consensual between two a parties. It is neither in favor of women, nor in favor High-status males but in favor of general population of males, over the short -term time period. Over a longer period, it’s in favor of civilization and promotes well-being of society. Women get better & complete resources of their partners. General male population gets at the very least one woman they can care for. And the elites (high-status) males are saved from the violent collapse due to high-testosterone sex-crazed males rebelling against the system through a violent revolution. Rather, they become determined to maintain the status quo, hence will often do everything in their power to maintain it.
Darwinism & Morality

On an individual level, one must act immoral if a woman values resources & good life over the complete commitment of her partner then should choose the way of polygyny. If a man wants to secure multiple women, he must work relentlessly to secure status or if he is fine with an average life with a singular women he must search for a woman who values his commitment over resources & he must at the very least suffer enough to be above in hierarchy over average men. Every women desires to be protected innately, this is the base of their attraction towards a man. Evolutionally, the higher in hierarchy you were the better you are at protecting her and her offspring.

Her selective disagreeableness allows her to be firm with her boundaries & not have been expended for sex in the past, by the other males.
Womanly Prudence In modern times, where non-marital polygyny is allowed to pass that is not punished by social pressure most average women will secure an offspring from an high-status man, but commitment from a middle-status by never allowing him to truly know the truth about his adopted child. Women must prudently secure this secret and take it to the grave with them, for if a male realizes the child isn’t his, he will cold & indifferent to both women and the child. Such men will make you feel extreme emotions of love and the so-called feminine conundrum “I’m special” – you are… Just until your utility is fulfilled.
